Interstellar Dust Models
At this point, it is not possible to “invert” the observations to “derive” the nature of interstellar dust – neither theory nor observations are good enough. The only feasible approach is to propose a dust model, calculate its properties, and compare it to observations. If the model disagrees with the observations, it is rejected. (Draine, B.T.2004)
